Our team is committed to strengthening the security of our Duke Health network.

Duke Health implemented greater network security in the form of Network Access Control (NAC). NAC ensures that any device connected to the Duke Health secured network via Ethernet cable (wired), WiFi (wireless) or Virtual Private Network (VPN) does not pose a security risk. After enforcement, if a device cannot be identified by the network or does not have a minimum level of protection against threats to the network, the device will not be able to access the Duke Health network without being registered.

Why is it important to have a NAC solution?

With organizations now having to account for exponential growth of devices accessing their networks and the security risks they bring, it is critical to have the tools that provide the visibility, access control, and compliance capabilities that are required to strengthen network security infrastructure. A NAC system can deny network access to non-compliant devices, place them in a quarantined area, or give them only restricted access to computing resources, thus keeping insecure nodes from infecting the network.
